We want to unite the real estate industry

Propbinder Sees Real Estate Industry Embracing Digitalization, Data, and AI

By Frederikke Schrøder

Propbinder is a relatively new company that has successfully attracted customers from various sectors of the real estate industry – from administrators to property owners, facility management, and facility service companies. According to Kim Andersen, CCO and partner at Propbinder, their success is due to filling a gap in the industry.

"Our focus on improving communication within and around properties has been sorely lacking. This includes communication between administrators, owners, caretakers, and property suppliers. We have made it easy to create positive tenant experiences, and we can demonstrate that this increases tenant satisfaction. Additionally, it enhances the efficiency of owners and administrators by relieving them of manual follow-ups with suppliers and handling numerous emails and phone calls from tenants. We can even provide AI-generated response suggestions to tenants. Our platform and extensive data collaborations also simplify ESG reporting – where tenant satisfaction is a reporting element," says Kim Andersen, adding, "At Propbinder, we know what we are good at, and that's what we continue to develop. For everything else, we find experts in their fields to partner with. Instead of trying to build everything ourselves, we emphasize partnerships. I believe this approach can help unite many industry stakeholders. We advocate collaboration over competition, so we've built Propbinder to integrate with everyone technically. This way, our customers also benefit from access to a wide range of services from the industry's best."

Proptech Industry Has Matured

There's a lot happening in the real estate industry, making innovative and optimizing companies essential. According to Kim Andersen, there used to be hesitation among industry players when considering proptech solutions.

"I think the entire proptech industry has matured, which is advantageous for those who were hesitant before. We are stronger as an industry now, and we have more to offer. There's a greater willingness to collaborate among proptech actors, which has evolved over the past few years. This has led to being taken more seriously, and we have more influence in discussions with customers," he says.

But changes aren't just evident among actors. Kim Andersen has also observed new trends in the real estate industry in general. "ESG is a clear example. It's moved from something we all talked about to something we must now address and report on our efforts. So how do we handle it in terms of systems and processes? Progress is accelerating, and there are many excellent solutions out there. We're eager to contribute what we can," says Kim Andersen.

Focus on Data and AI

The increased focus on ESG and tenant satisfaction is a development Kim Andersen hopes will shape the future of the real estate industry. He also believes data will play a central role in business operations. "We need to use the data generated on properties – for ESG optimization and reporting, but also in daily decision-making. This allows us to benefit the environment, our own values, and those living in our properties." According to Kim Andersen, AI also has significant potential to optimize property companies. "I hope the industry will embrace artificial intelligence because it can eliminate many tedious administrative tasks and make work more efficient and enjoyable. I see a lot of curiosity about this," he adds.

Good Camaraderie and Transparency

"I started my journey in the real estate industry years ago, and it's always been personally fascinating to me. It's a fantastic industry to be a part of in many ways," says Kim Andersen. "The camaraderie and transparency across the industry are very rewarding. We all share many of the same challenges, and people are incredibly helpful and open to dialogue. So I quickly realized it's an industry I want to stay in."

We Want to Be Part of the Community

Shortly after its launch, Propbinder joined EjendomDanmark. There was a specific motivation behind this decision.

"For us, EjendomDanmark is the industry's voice, and it was natural for us to become members. EjendomDanmark represents and unites the industry, and we want to be a part of that. We believe strongly in community, and we know we can't do everything alone. But with the right collaborations, we can achieve much more," explains Kim Andersen. When asked what EjendomDanmark can specifically do for Propbinder, the answer is clear: "Networking is crucial for us, and we want to spend time engaging in various forums. The information we gain about industry trends, legislation, and more is incredibly valuable to us. Additionally, there are plenty of exciting events we want to participate in, which is also beneficial for our employees. So it's also a form of employee benefit."
